I have had a lot of questions about the Generational shoots. Most people want to know what they are. Well, a generational shoot is a photo session of your family, Grandparents, parents, you and your family. Here is and example of my own Families Generational Session. My mom, her 3 daughters, and her 3 granddaughters. Three generations, together in one Portrait.
Another fine example is a photo session I did just before Christmas. A client contacted me about getting all the children and grandchildren together in one photo as a Christmas gift for her Grandmother.
In this photographers humble opinion, Generational shoots are priceless. These are memories you will keep for a very long time. There is nothing more treasured to the head of your family than portraits of all their loved ones together.
The next question I always get is, How much does a generational cost, and whats included. Generational shoots are $25 per family unit. For example if your family and your sisters family will be in the shot together, Your family is one unit, her family is a 2nd unit. I take several poses of the group as a whole, then take several poses of each family unit, and more poses of just the kids together, or just the adults together. Each family will get their own CD with the groups shots, and their individual family shots on it, and copyright release to have them printed as they wish.
Why Generational sessions are so close to my heart.
When I suggested the Generational session to my mom, she was a little hesitant. She was not one to be in front of the camera. She hated having her picture taken. We hadn't had a family picture taken together in a great many years. And never one with the Grandchildren. The photo shoot was in October 2010. We lost my mother very unexpectedly one month later. I cant fully express what those pictures have meant to me, and my family. They will be portraits treasured for years to come.
Certainly for as long as I am alive I will treasure them.
I am Jennifer's sister. We also had a generational shoot with our grandfather. So it was four generations. Our mother was in that one as well. I treasure the two generational photo shoots we had done, because of her unexpected passing. They will always be close to my heart and I will be able to show my future children what a beautiful woman my mother was.
ReplyDeleteI am Jennifer's cousin. Looking at the generational shoots with my aunt (her mother) in them fill me with awe. They are breath taking. And truly are treasured.
