Witnessing Emotions

If someone asked me, "whats your favorite thing about being a photographer?" I would have to say, capturing emotions, and feelings.  Sometimes its the subtle little gestures, and hand placement, that really make me take notice on someones true emotion.  I was shooting an engagement shoot with a couple who have been together much longer than even my husband and I.  You would think after all those years that some of the spark would be gone, or they would be so used to just looking at each others faces, that the love and tenderness wouldn't be so prevalent.  This could not be less true.
The way a man looks at a woman, speaks volumes about how he feels for her.
The way he closes his eyes even when just kissing her cheek.
The placement of his hand on the small of her back, shows his passion for her.

I mean when it all comes down, you can tell people how to stand, and where to put there hands.  But what makes the photographs really good, is just the subtleties of their own actions. That's how you capture their true emotions and feelings. By just letting them have the freedom to be themselves.
That's why I love photography so much.  I get to take a glimpse into your personal world.  I get to witness things between people, that mostly go unnoticed.
